Weather in France
The climate in France can vary greatly between its 26 regions, so where you visit may depend on the type of holiday you’re looking for.
From the North down to Paris, the climate is relatively temperate – hot summers (sometimes experiencing heatwaves as high as 40 degrees) and cold winters are the norm, with regular rainfall throughout the year. The average summer temperature for this region would be around the mid-20s.
More central areas tend not to have much rhyme or reason to their weather! It can be rainy in winter or summer, cold or mild in winter and mild or very warm in the summer. The closer to the east or west coasts you get, generally the more milder it will become. Mid-to-high 20s can be expected often in the summer.
The south of France has a very Mediterranean climate – the hottest of all French summers, and mild, pleasant winters. High 20s are average in the summer, but it can get much hotter, and on a day with little breeze, it can feel scorching!
