BlueBay Hotels extends its presence in Colombia with the addition of Hotel las Islas by BlueBay

A five-star hotel with 55 luxury bungalows in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

BlueBay Hotels, the eighth Spanish hotel company in terms of international presence and the tenth largest hotel group counting hotel rooms[1], adds the Hotel Islas by Bluebay (*****) to its portfolio of hotels in Colombia. The Spanish company already had two hotels in Colombia: Hotel Portal del Norte by BlueBay (****) in Armenia and BlueBay Vacation Rentals Palmetto (****) in Cartagena de Indias. Hotel las Islas by BlueBay features 55 luxury bungalows (22 at sea level and 33 within the trees), along with the Casa Navagante – a spacious two-bedroom catamaran. The hotel is located in Barú, which, thanks to the beauty of its incredible natural surroundings, is rapidly becoming one of the most popular tourist regions in Colombia. With this new addition, the Spanish company continues to strengthen its presence in Latin America, where it also has 3 hotels in Ecuador and 1 in Bolivia.

Jamal Satli Iglesias, Chairman of BlueBay Hotels, said: “We already have two hotels in Colombia, so it’s a destination that we know, although the opening of a new hotel in Cartagena de las Indias, which is one of the most popular destinations in the area for tourists, means strengthening and complementing our selection of sun and beach tourism by adding this five-star hotel to our portfolio.”

BlueBay Hotels CEO, Ramón Hernández, stated: “with this hotel, we’re continuing with our expansion plan in the Americas. We’ve already added hotels in Bolivia and Ecuador, and, despite COVID-19, we’ll continue to look at new opportunities for growth in the area in the coming months”.

Along with the franchise agreement to use the BlueBay brand, the contract also includes a business agreement signed in December 2019 by the hotelier and Grupo Aviatur, which has the largest network of travel agencies in Colombia and is also the owner of Hotel las Islas by BlueBay.

Jean Claude Bessudo, President of Grupo Aviatur, added: “This new commercial and branding alliance with a well-positioned international brand will upgrade the category of Hotel las Islas even further, and our commercial strength in Colombia will open up new opportunities for BlueBay Hotels in our country. This new agreement will mean growth and expansion for both partners.”
