Antibes is a French municipality located in the area known as Alpes-Maritimes, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, to be precise. This small town of purely tourist vocation is also known, even in official documents, as Juan-les-Pins. Originally it was a Greek commercial area known as Antipolis. Then it passed under the Roman Empire to end up being domain of the Grimaldi family since the seventeenth century.
This is one of the most important tourist centers of the French Riviera, boasting an average of 300 sunny days a year and over 25 km of sandy beaches. Antibes is located between Nice and Cannes and is considered the second most important city of the Côte d'Azur. The town is small and cozy, ideal for walking, riding a bike or a moped. Its population swivels around 75,000 inhabitants in winter, while in summer this number almost doubles.
Antibes is credited with one of the most important and largest recreational ports in the Mediterranean, as well as an outstanding museum dedicated to the figure of Pablo Picasso, also having deep roots in the history of other famous people such as Guy de Maupassant, or the mythical Jules Verne.
The town is well connected to major centers such as Cannes, Nice, Monaco and the Italian border, with trains departing with a frequency of less than half an hour.
