One of the best things I love about technology is that it makes our lives easier. Nowadays, we have mobile apps for almost everything imaginable and, of course, the world of travel has its fair share too.
There are apps to help you prepare for your trips and others that help you get to know your destination or the hotel where you are staying.
Find out which ones suit your way of travelling and download them!
Minube
This app started out as a website under the same name. Minube helps you to find opinions and ratings of destinations around the world from other users. It will help you discover which places are worth visiting, where to eat or stay – depending on your budget, the most recommended tours to take, etc.
A complete and visual app (and website) that has the advantage of offering actual photos.
Maps.me
Mobile data usage is often expensive when travelling, and we often find ourselves in places where internet access is not as good as we would like it to be. With Maps.me, you are guaranteed, at the very least, not to get lost. Download maps of the area you are travelling to and calculate the best routes between the two points. Once you have the app downloaded, you can use the maps without an internet connection – and it’s free!
Trip It
Flight tickets, train tickets, car rental or transfer services, tour booking and more. When it comes to travelling, there are lots of services that we contract before leaving home, and it is often difficult to find them all in your inbox. The beauty of Trip It is that you have everything organised in the same place. This app synchronises all your documents and plans your route, fills in the flight information, the time between stopovers, etc. However, the free version is quite limited, so if you want to make full use of it you will need to purchase the paid version.
Localeur
If you identify with the trend in sustainable travel and supporting local businesses, this is the app for you. Localeur provides you with reliable info from locals in over 200 cities around the world. The app boasts a global community of experts with recommendations on where to eat and drink, personalised travel guides, where to buy artisanal products and much more!
Telegram
We decided to include this well-known messaging app in our list as it can be used globally and is now rolling out an emergency service in embassies. Contact your friends and family easily and send photos and videos effortlessly.
Visit a City
Another of the basics when travelling. With this app, you can follow itineraries based on the number of days you are going to be visiting a city and even modify them to suit your tastes. It also groups the key tourist sites by proximity and opening hours. Highly recommended.
Now that you know more about your destination, let’s look at another vital part of planning your trip: hotels.
BlueBay Grand Esmeralda app
The BlueBay Grand Esmeralda app was designed to help guests from the moment they arrive at the hotel.
You can find information about the hotel’s culinary offerings, treatments available at the spa, experiences at the hotel or destination, additional rental services, activities scheduled at the gym or kids club, and everything else you may need during your stay.
