The top 5 beaches and coves in Mallorca

Finding a bad beach is almost next to impossible in Mallorca. The island is known the world over for having more than 300 spectacular beaches scattered along the coast with beautiful crystal clear waters and fine sand. Although some of them can get quite busy during high season, others are located remote enough to remain quiet and unspoilt.

Today, we are going to tell you about five gems to visit during your stay on this magical island. Grab your towel, flip-flops and sun cream, and let’s go!

Playa Es Trenc:

An Adam and Eve paradise, this nudist beach located in a protected area close to Salinas de Es Trenc, where salt has been mined for centuries, boasts white sands, dunes and pine groves to form a spectacular landscape. And the good news is that it is generally not too crowded.

Playa de Formentor:

Playa de Formentor is a long, white sand beach, about 1.5 kilometres in length, that, although quite popular with locals and tourists, still maintains its unspoilt landscape. Thanks to its shallow, calm water, it is an excellent place for children, and it also has toilets, water stations and a couple of restaurants. You can leave your parasol at home as this crescent-shaped beach lined with pine trees provides plenty of natural shade.

Caló de Marmols:

If you are looking for beauty, adventure and tranquillity, this is paradise. It is not the easiest place to get to, but oh boy, is it worth it. This idyllic, secluded beach, surrounded by high cliffs, can be reached on foot, but bear in mind that it is a 5-kilometre trek, so maybe think about getting a boat there, and remember to bring plenty of drinks and food as there are no facilities on the beach.

 Cala de Sa Calobra

You have to enjoy hairpin bends to arrive here, driving along the winding road with a total elevation of almost 900 metres before reaching the cove. Another easier way to get there is by boat, and many companies organise day trips from Port de Soller. This is a one of a kind place with a narrow pebble beach and turquoise waters. It tends to get quite busy, so we recommend avoiding it during high season.

Cala de S’Amarador

Located within Mondragó Natural Park quiet, this blue flag virgin beach with shallow water is ideal for young kids and a perfect spot for a family day out at the beach.

And just 400 metres away, you have Cala Mondragó, a somewhat smaller beach with restaurants, where it is possible to rent parasols and sun loungers.
