Gastronomic tourism: a growing trend

Gone are those times when resting was the only reason to take a vacation. Today there are many reasons why we decide to pack, cultural reasons, personal knowledge, leisure … are just some of them. But today we are going to deal with the one that attacks us from the stomach, the gastronomic one.

And we are not in a bad place for it. Spain is famous for its Mediterranean diet and is one of the destinations that attracts the most attention worldwide when it comes to food. But let’s start with some data from the Online Reputation Monitor for Gastronomic Tourism drafted in 2019 by Vivential Value and that indicates that Russian, North American and British tourists are the ones who best value our gastronomy. On the other side, tourists that gives a lower value to our cuisine are our Italian neighbors, the Nordic countries and the national tourists.

This last point is understandable because national tourists are used to their own cuisine and that is why establishments should focus on them, which are a good quality thermometer. And if we talk about tourism, few cities have more references than the Costa del Sol town of Marbella, which in October 2021 was nominated for ‘Best European Destination 2022’ by the European Best Destinations travel website.

This recognition will mean an estimated promotion of 10 million euros. In addition, the city will be part of a list of 20 cities that will be promoted as unique quality destinations. An action that in other years has resulted in an increase in tourism between 13 and 40 percent. The result will be known next February 2022 and for sure many hotels, restaurants and shops are looking forward to know it. If you visit the city you have many options but today we are going to know in depth one of them.

A1 Aretusa: an example of things done well

On the first line of Puerto Banús is A1 Aretusa, an establishment that opened its doors more than two decades ago and has become an essential of good gastronomy. The elegance of the establishment, the environment and a service always attentive to the smallest detail complete the requirements to live an unforgettable experience. Meat, fish and pasta star in dishes made with the best raw materials as well as a selection of white, red and champagne wines designed to pair perfectly with main dishes or desserts.

A1 Aretusa also perfectly matches the environment. During the summer, tourists liven up the streets and make exclusive purchases while strolling in the sun, and in winter quieter streets reveal a magnificent setting of yachts and luxury boats.

We are waiting for you!
