Mallorca: A paradise for family holidays

Mallorca is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The largest of the Balearic Islands boasts 500 kilometres of stunning coastline, turquoise waters, coves and beaches.

Spring and summer are the best times to travel to Mallorca. You can enjoy sun-filled days in May and September, although the island is much quieter in spring with fewer tourists, so it is a great time to discover the island’s culture and history in a more relaxed way.

There are plenty of different villages worth visiting. You can enjoy beautiful rural, mountain landscapes or the most incredible sunsets on some of the island’s beaches.

Mallorca’s variety of natural features and geography make it the perfect destination to enjoy a family-friendly holiday.  As you already know, travelling with kids requires greater planning and fun activities.

The island offers plenty of great options. So, let’s take a look at a few ideas that are sure to impress the kids and keep them entertained.

  • Guided tour of Palma: The Balearic capital is rich in culture, history and architecture. The tour is a great way to discover treasures such as Palma Cathedral, the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, an old fortress where the kings of Mallorca lived, and Plaza de Cort, with the spectacular facade of the City Hall. Signing up for some of the free tours is also a great option if you want to learn more about the city.

  • Palma Aquarium: A fun day for all the family. More than 8000 animals and 700 aquatic species bring you closer to the wonders of our seas and oceans. The kids will learn more about the animals and how to care for them, and they can also dive with sharks and snorkel with stingrays.

  • Historic train from Palma to Soller: The train departs from Palma de Mallorca on a 27 kilometre journey through the spectacular landscapes of inland Mallorca taking you to the Port of Soller, where you can then take a tram that runs along the coast and ends at the old railway station.

  • Excursions to caves and caverns: As we previously mentioned Mallorca’s orography is incredibly varied and you can enjoy a visit to some incredible caves that will be quite the adventure for little ones. Some of our favourites are the Drach Caves, Campanent and the Genova Caves.

  • Hop-on, hop-off bus tour of Palma: An ideal way to see the city. The bus stops at 20 of the city’s most interesting places to visit, so you can hop-on and hop-off as many times as you want in the same day.

  • Other activities: Renting a mountain bike to explore the coast or some of the natural parks is a healthy, fun and budget-friendly option. Or the more adventurous members of the family could opt for potholing, cliff jumping, etc.

It is also important to choose a place to rest and relax that can offer you a variety of leisure options for all the family. Bellevue Club in Alcudia ticks all the boxes with an extensive range of dining options and recreational activities. 8 swimming pools, tennis & squash courts, a go-karting circuit and several restaurants serving Italian, Mediterranean and international dishes.
